Like vinyl records, hair metal and Ricky Martin, the world of rock art - album covers, posters and the like -- just doesn't score as much attention as it once did. These days, the few non-video visuals that remain part of the music experience usually get shrunk down to fit on an iPod screen, if they show up at all.

One holdout that's not only still alive, but thriving, however, is the custom designed concert poster. So many shows, so little time? Here's a look at the 25 coolest posters in rock history. And yes, it's undeniable: San Francisco figures prominently.

Alexandra Pacula was born in Poland in 1979 and at the age of fourteen moved to the United States together with her family. She resides in North Haledon NJ but works in a studio in Brooklyn. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in painting from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers the State University of NJ in 2002 and recently finished a Master of Fine Arts degree at Montclair State University of NJ.

Her work has been included in many exhibitions around the NY, PA and NJ area. Her paintings are mostly large scale oil on canvas. In her work she explores human conditioning and anxieties. Her vigorous painterly scenes of urban nightlife offer an insight to human interactions, seductions and desires. Alexandra draws ideas from her immediate surroundings and experiences.

My influences are many and varied; I have a passion for the likes of Giotto, Caravaggio, Valazquez, Rembrandt and Chardin as well as more contemporary artists such as Dodd Proctor, Stanley Spencer, Hopper, Rothko, Alison Watts, Lucian Freud and Michael Leonard to name a few.

I am absorbed by the figure and especially depictions carrying a certain monumentality, irrespective of their size. The figure is an immensely evocative image and I have written several of my dissertations about the relevance of the nude, especially the male nude, and of the nude's relevance today as a metaphor for an alternative reality. I am also inspired by the colours of autumn; their light and luminosity, and the invocation of memories through the use of these colours.

The Baikonur Cosmodrome is the oldest and largest operational space launch facility in the world. It is located in the middle of the vast Kazakh desert, where temperature ranges from -40ºC to 45°C and some peaceful camels watch the spaceships passing by.It was from Baikonur that the first satellite to orbit the Earth was launched, and that Yuri Gagarin, the first man to orbit the Earth, was launched into space in 1961.

Since the collapse of the USSR, many areas of the Baikonur site have simply been abandoned, because the Russian government cannot afford to maintain them. Those areas which are not in use are not guarded, and this continues to result in the robbery of equipment and materials. Besides, the surroundings of the Cosmodrome have become a kind of “spaceship junkyard", as many fuel tanks and booster stages fell back to earth before reaching orbit. Recently, the norwegian photographer Jonas Bendiksen took some amazing pictures of the areas where the supporting rockets landed, and the people who live there.

We zijn, als bewoners van deze aarde toch wel heel erg ver in de modder gezakt, als we afhangen, en ons bestaan af laten hangen van zo een volkomen idioot dat we niet eens in staat zijn om ons eigen weg te gaan, maar steeds maar weer achter de oorlogsmisdadiger bush aanlopen, die het presteerd om zijn eigen top-generaals en verkeerd te quoten, en verkeerd te interpreteren, en ze zelfs als leugenaars te kak te zetten (zie www.military.com).

Als je het goed bekijkt, en dat probeer(!) ik te doen, dan zijn wij, als nederlanders nog medeschuldig ook aan de oorlogsmisdaden die door de amerikanen in onder anderen quantanamo bay worden gepleegd, de geneefse conventie buiten spel gezet, mensen zonder tijdslimiet opgesloten, terwijl ze in feite onschuldig zijn aan wat dan ook, soldaten die mogen folteren omdat ze chirstelijk zijn (zo staat het letterlijk in de wet die door bush is ondertekend "christian society"), we zijn bondgenoten van bush, en dan nog durven wij te stellen dat we normen en waarden hebben, als nederland?

Balkende ellende: ga je schamen, en ga met je clubje mede-oplichters en leugenaars maar eens een tijdje in een concentratiekamp als quantanamo bay zitten, dan zul je wellicht weten wat of de normen en waarden van de amerikanen zijn!

Many of the locomotives pictured went on to be preserved and restored to use after years of dereliction. At this time there were over 170 locos present and the old Barry Railway works near the station was also in use for storage. The photos above and below show some of the locos stored in the lower yard. Most of the locos present were from the Western Region although Southern, B.R. standard and Midland types were also well represented.

Ondernemend type kan overweg met stoommachines én schrijft briljante teksten. Weet alles van interior design. Hildo is de man van de wereld, klaar voor een nieuwe tijd. Man met smaak en een bewuste stijl. Zeiden we al dat hij verdomd goed kan schrijven?

Hildo heerst, waren we allemaal maar wat meer zoals Hildo. Veel gasten zijn er niet want Hildo's website wordt niet zo vaak bezocht. Toch is Hildo is van mening dat iedereen die per ongeluk over Hildo's Egocentrische website struikelt de kans moet hebben om zijn ei kwijt te kunnen. Regels zijn er niet, behalve dat het fatsoen hoog in het vaandel staat! Want, jazeker, Hildo is een fatsoenlijk type.
