A year has passed since İstanbul Modern held its opening with its first exhibition, " Observation-Interpretation-Multiplicity", which traced the story of Turkish painting taking into consideration the last 100 years. The exhibition sought to interpret this story through eight interrelated thematic concepts, without reference to time zones, group movements and historical background, reevaluating Modern Turkish Painting in the light of affinities, reciprocal influences and contrasts. The exhibition looked at the general proclivities of Turkish painting, pointing to possible affinities between works whose dates and sensibilities did not converge, wishing to open up a new perspectives.
