Picture perfect memories, Scattered all around the floor

Reaching for the phone 'cause, I can't fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time
It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone And I need you now
Said I wouldn't call, But I lost all control And I need you now
And I don't know how, I can do without I just need you now

On a rainy Nashville Thursday last October, Justin Townes Earle leapt onstage at the famed Ryman Auditorium to accept the 2011 Americana Music Award for Song of the Year. The triumphant evening capped a turbulent twelve months for the gifted young musician categorized by significant hardship as well as notable achievement including debut performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall and on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Just one week later, Earle retreated to the western mountains of North Carolina to record his next album, Nothing’s Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now – an intriguing title given the importance of change in Earle’s approach to art. “I think it’s the job of the artist to be in transition and constantly learning more,” he says. “The new record is completely different than my last one, Harlem River Blues. This time I’ve gone in a Memphis-soul direction.” Mirror hier, klik.

Nashvillian songwriters Trent Dabbs and Amy Stroup set the way-back machine to the late 50′s, early 60′ days of classic pop for their new, pitch-perfect throwback and shiny satin side project Sugar + the Hi-Lows.

The vibe is both tongue-in-cheek impish and respectful of their pioneering elders as the duo and their band, as sharp as the pleat in Dabb’s trousers or the heels of Stroup’s shiny pumps, carouse their way through a retro melange of self-penned soulful, doo-wop slow dances and hip-shakin’, sock-hoppin’ rave-ups.

As they say on their site, only two rules applied to the album: “(it) had to be effortless and it had to be FUN.” Following the classic rule of “it’s not good if you can’t dance to it”, Dabbs and Stroup decided…

Eindelijk gevonden !

And though his dream may soon grow much, much larger than a double wide, and reach heights even he couldn’t have imagined, Casey is quite content with all he’s accomplished thus far in this little career that could. “I don’t see anyone coming to make a deal where we’re gonna change what we do. I’m not sure how far we have left to go, hopefully forever, but you know nothing lasts forever, so I’m always mindful of that and prepared that one day this ride could be over.

And I’m pretty proud of everything we’ve accomplished. I hope there’s more, but if it were over tomorrow, I could look at my wife and say I was really proud of everything we’ve accomplished. I’m really excited about this record. I think the songs on here are great, and are a big step forward, and the fans, whatever their expectations are, I hope we blow em away!”

Plaatje is downloaden.

Chuck Mason and Blue Reality carries the tradition of great blues-rock music forward into a new era. Blending the vibe of Rock's greatest trios - The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, and Stevie Ray Vaughan - with the guitar influence of Van Halen and vocals borrowed from Led Zeppelin, CMBR delivers an authentic blue groove that has audiences hungry for more.

Live shows are a crowd-pleasing force of exceptional blues, rock, and funk guitar, blazed through vintage Marshall amps and anchored by a dynamic rhythm section and soulful vocals. A typical set list includes Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign, Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile, Led Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused, Van Halen's Ice Cream Man, ZZ Top’s Tush and more.

Spider Eating Preacher could be subtitled "The Great West Side Preservation Society" as Eddie C. Campbell, with guidance from longtime friend and producer Dick Shurman, has recaptured the magic of that beautiful style.

That shouldn't come as a surprise as Campbell as a dear friend and bandmate of Magic Sam, one of the true pioneers of the sound, nor should anyone be surprised Campbell has recaptured that essence without making a record that sounds dated, ready to be catalogued in a museum somewhere before it's ever really heard.

Preacher isn't some collection of covers of tired material from the beloved blues canon or thinly disguised rewrites of those classics. He presides over a project that became a largely family affair along with Shurman, who he's known for more than 35 years. His wife plays on much of the record and assisted in the writing process, his son plays on a pair of cuts, and his godson, National Treasure Lurrie Bell, is appears on three. Campbell sounds vital and energized, like he's playing with house money, free to be himself with tricks and licks aplenty, as well as a healthy dose of his own playful sense of humor.

Giants van de Stranglers beluisteren

On 18 August 1979, The Stranglers supported The Who at Wembley Stadium, as part of a bill that also featured AC/DC and Nils Lofgren.

Thirty-three years on from this fracas, on the evidence of Giants it’s difficult to imagine anyone viewing The Stranglers as having ever been a punk band at all, let alone of a kind that could whip up its audience to the kind of levels sufficient to cause a scrap on a football field. That said, and as Elvis Costello once noted, the best groups to emerge in the initial wave of English punk could not wait to escape the straitjacket of the form. In this pursuit, The Stranglers performed more convincingly than most.

Longstanding fans of the band will no doubt be able to immediately fall in line with Giants’ odd and unique groove. But for the uninitiated, the overall sound seems crude, even amateurish: the drumming seems rudimentary, the production clumsy and blunt; worse yet, vocalist Baz Warne occasionally sounds like Mark Knopfler. Give this album a day or two, though, and its 10 songs begin to slip into context.

Luke''s player

De CD hiernaast beluisteren via divshare

Luke Bryan grew up in the very small town of Leesburg, Ga. Back home, he helped his father with his peanut and fertilizer businesses while playing sports and enjoying the great outdoors. Yet he can remember his mother urging him to belt out George Strait songs over and over while she drove him into town to shop. By age 14, his parents bought him an Alvarez guitar. By 15, his father would take him down to a nearby club, Skinner's, where he shared guitar licks and lead vocals with other local country singers.

At age 16, two local songwriters who'd enjoyed some success providing tunes for Nashville artists invited him to join their twice-a-week writing sessions at a local church. By that time, Bryan led his own band, playing at Skinner's and various community events.

Encouraged by everyone who heard him play, Bryan planned to move to Nashville after high school graduation. Supported by his family, he was loading his car for the move when tragedy struck. His older brother Chris, Bryan's biggest supporter and one of his best friends, was killed in an auto accident the day Bryan was to leave town.

They met in Nashville, five musicians from four states with backgrounds from across the spectrum and a hunger to make music that matters. Their growing suspicion that they had something special was confirmed over and over as they took to the road. Fans in one club after another reacted as they always do in the presence of the real thing, and The Dirt Drifters began attracting a rabid and loyal following.

Jersey rocker Jeff Middleton headed to Nashville after being inspired by Garth Brooks to become a songwriter and musician, turning his back on the security of the business world to pursue a dream. Louisiana-born Nick Diamond was brought up in his preacher father’s church playing multiple instruments. He settled on drums and, ironically enough, met the core of his future honky-tonk band mates at church. Jeremy Little cut his teeth in rock bands in Chattanooga, then moved to Nashville after graduation. His sound brought the finishing touches to the Drifters’ musical brotherhood.
The band’s blue-collar ethos remains firmly in place.

Killer player

Leeroy Stagger, CD hiernaast luisteren

Born in Victoria, British Columbia and raised on a little island on the very west coast of Canada, Stagger spent most of his youth with his grandparents who exposed him to the world of country music. Developing his musical drive early on, Stagger formed his first punk rock band at age 18. Songwriting came shortly after with themes revolving around his childhood, traveling, relationships, substance abuse and the tribulations of life. Having collaborated with one of his icons, Danny Michel, Stagger found commercial success in the song, "Just in Case", which was featured twice on the television hit, Grey's Anatomy.

The life of being on the road and touring at a fast pace did not wear easily on Stagger, who at age 26, realized he had an alcohol problem that was affecting his ability to perform with the commitment and heart his songs demanded. Clean and sober since, Stagger has a strong desire to inspire young musicians that they do not have to succumb to the pitfalls of substance abuse, which can be prevalent in a musician's touring lifestyle.

Little Victories is Stagger's musical imprint for those who have faced difficulties, but refuse to give in. While disappointment is a part of life, we can either spin in or out, and as long as we grasp onto the sense of purpose beneath the challenges, those are indeed our own Little Victories.

Colby luisteren
